We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Safety Engineer working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), Bristol. DST is a business unit in the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group.
This is a permanent, full time position.
Typical tasks and responsibilities include:
Develop safety cases against the requirements of Def Stan 00-56 and JSP 430.
Perform safety reviews/ analysis - HAZOP studies, FTA, FMEA.
Manage hazard logs.
Produce Safety Case Reports.
Provide safety advice to product teams.
Required Experience / Qualifications
A degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering field.
Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with an appropriate Institution.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a related safety engineering field.
A good understanding of modern safety case standards (defence and commercial).
Experience of running safety management systems and applying safety management techniques to engineering issues.
Experience of HAZOPS, Hazard logs, Safety Case reporting.
Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Conversant with Microsoft Office packages.
Team player but capable of working autonomously.
Enthusiastic with a can do attitude.
It would be beneficial to have:
Completed the MoD Ship Safety Management Office training course.
Have experience of working to Def Stan 00-56 and JSP 430.

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
