Facebook seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced international Data Protection lawyer to join its team. This position is based in Dublin Ireland but will require international travel.
Reporting to the Head of Data Protection Facebook Ireland and working closely on a cross functional basis with other Facebook commercial, consumer, competition, litigation and data protection and privacy lawyers to advise on compliance with European data protection law.
Represent Facebook in regulatory engagements including with local data protection authorities, international regulators and other external audiences.
Provide bespoke legal advice to teams from Policy, Engineering, Product Management, Advertising, Marketing and Communications from the initial stages of product development to market launch.
Advise Facebook’s product and commercial lawyers on a wide range of technology, data protection and related data security, consumer protection and privacy questions.
Contribute to and provide data protection training and awareness programs.
Monitor and respond to developments in privacy and information security (i.e., new laws, regulations, important judgements, regulatory guidance, etc.).
Qualified to practice law in a European member state after successful completion relevant professional examinations. Experience should include providing practical advice on European data protection and privacy issues to organizations in the technology and social media sphere.
Law degree with strong academic record.
A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced hard working environment and to make sound judgments and smart decisions enabling the completion of several simultaneous projects to tight deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
Accuracy and strong drafting ability that can be used in a commercial setting with business stakeholders.
First rate technical abilities with a strong knowledge of and interest in emerging technologies and devices with a demonstrated ability to find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues and provide concise and business-focused legal advice.
Flexibility and eagerness to work on a broad range of legal matters.
A willingness to travel.
Fluency in English (both written and spoken) and additional languages a bonus.
