Talking Change is a well-established and high performing Increasing Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) service provided by Solent NHS Trust and commissioned by NHS Portsmouth CCG.
The service was launched in 2009 to provide evidence based psychological interventions for the population of Portsmouth in primary care. The service was currently selected as early long term condition pathfinder site to help expand psychological therapies for patients with co-morbid physical and mental health difficulties. Talking Change has integrated the Practice Counsellors within the team to provide a single point of access for the population of Portsmouth. We now have a clinical team comprising of CBT therapists, psychologists, psychological wellbeing practitioners and counsellors.
The clinical services provided to clients are supported by a competent, friendly and efficient Admin team. The counselling team provides brief counselling as well as IAPT non-CBT depression treatment such as DIT, CfD and IPT. We are looking for a suitably qualified counsellor with BACP accreditation or eligibility for accreditation and prior training and qualification in one of the IAPT compliant non-CBT treatment models such as IPT, DIT, CfD, CCfD and BCT to join our counselling team.
We will consider applicants without formal training in one of the IAPT compliant non CBT model providing they have extensive experience and training in a humanistic and/or psychodynamic model. Candidates with couple counselling or psychotherapy background are strongly encouraged to apply. With formal training in an IAPT compliant model (such as IPT or DIT) the role may be recruited as a band 6. The candidate should be able to demonstrate good interpersonal qualities, prioritise the workload, adopt a flexible attitude to the role, show initiative, and have a friendly approach to dealing with patients, stake holders and colleagues.
Please contact Dr Mahdi Ghomi or Petra Friesner for further information on 023 9289 2920.
