Role synopsis
Reporting to the Global Engineering and Projects Manager and functionally into the Global Design Leader, this role provides a CAD service to Air BP, both at a Concept and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) level and in detailed piping design. The role requires the incumbent to create detailed aviation fuel hydrant designs and piping layout using AutoCAD from project engineer instructions (sketches and general guidance) and using the Air BP design standards. The role requires the individual to develop the initial instruction into a complete solution and therefore requires the individual to exercise detailed design intelligence.
Key accountabilities
Design Office:
To work in accordance with the Design Office procedures.
To manage the Air BP Drawing Database and its Intranet portal.
To manage the Design Office equipment, hardware and software, including support contracts.
To develop improvements to Design Office processes.
To assist in the estimating of Design Office man-hours.
To record time allocation by use of the Air BP Timesheet system.
To notify the Design Office Manager and Project Engineer of interruptions to Design Office workflow.
To be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the Design Office environment.
To keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.
To manage the interaction with third parties including the exchange of electronic drawing data.
Engineering Duties:
To produce drawings and graphics using AutoCAD in support of engineering and business development projects, including:
Concept Design Layouts at pre-airfield and airfield depots
Flow Diagrams
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
Use of vehicle tracking software to assist depot layout
To develop Piping design studies and final detailed design of piping facilities for construction, including:
Determining hydrant pit positioning for safe refuelling
Underground fuel hydrant routing and design (plans and longitudinal sections)
Underground valve chambers in fuel hydrant systems
Pipework and equipment layouts within fuel depots
To create and maintain the site drawings packs, including carrying out site visits for data gathering (e.g. for P&ID verification or creation).
Identify issues and problems then develop appropriate and innovative design solutions
Participate in project reviews as required.
Evaluate and develop the Air BP Standard Drawings
Key Challenges:
Familiarisation with aviation fuel storage, handling and distribution operations and Air BP engineering standards.
Creating designs that are constructible and safe to construct, with an eye to minimising construction costs.
Essential Education
A recognized engineering or design qualification.
Essential experience and job requirements
Excellent AutoCAD skills.
Significant and demonstrable design and draughting experience in piping design in the petrochemical or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
Demonstrable design experience of fuel hydrant detail design and hydrant pit positioning using AUTOCAD
Well-organized, efficient and self-motivated.
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines and objectives.
Highly focussed attention to detail.
Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Fluent in English, oral as well as written.
