Role synopsis
The IST Eastern Hemisphere Marketing & Origination team leverages origination, marketing and commercial development capabilities in support of Eastern Hemisphere’s growth ambitions. The M&O team provides expert resources in pursuit of a range of more sophisticated and longer-term transactions. These transactions will be originated from and marketed to third parties and involve a combination of physical, derivative price risk management, and financial elements. Successful delivery will provide stronger base flows which will generate stable income, sound bases for wider regional trading and/or growth options.
The Marketing and Origination team provides the relationship and business development support for BP’s Global Commodity. The Team seeks to create growth options and step out opportunities that may cross commodities. Marketing activity includes establishing and developing third party accounts for supply, off-take and risk management. Origination includes establishing structural relationships that offer customers and partners a combination of service, finance, risk mitigation and capability for flexible long term asset access and associated information, values and commodity flows.
Key accountabilities
Provide leadership in the Marketing & Origination space such that Global Oil Eastern Hemisphere has a platform for growth consistent with regional and global commodity strategies
Provide robust and effective supervision/influence for the EH M&O team enabling compliance with relevant Group and IST standards, as well as external regulations.
Work closely with global peers on the M&O agenda, focusing on enhancing consistency of processes, reward and coordination of cross region opportunities. Co-ordinate with M&O in Global Oil Europe and Global Oil America on global strategy, cross-regional deals, sharing of best practices and people development
Interface with internal stakeholders such as FVC's, Upstream, Air BP, IST Functions and Group Treasury to create strong partnerships that enable performance delivery
As a member of the GOEH LT, actively participate in EH governance, regional meetings, people development and recruitment.
Develop key strategic relationships with counterparties in the region

Essential Education
Comprehensive understanding of the market fundamentals that drive the marketplace.
Experience in valuation, structuring and negotiation of longer-term contracts
Proven experience in business development or commercially driven role in the Oil or Gas industry.
Knowledge of energy trading and origination operations
Essential experience and job requirements
Leadership experience in managing multi-cultural regional teams.
Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal clients such as trading, originators, operations, structuring, credit, finance and legal
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships Proven commercial experience and negotiating skills
Familiarity with third-party assets and structures using hydrocarbon longs/shorts, term shipping, debt finance, working capital facilities, trading calls and commercial optimization skills
