Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust is the largest heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. We are a partnership of two specialist hospitals which are known throughout the world for their expertise, standard of care and research success.
We are looking for an experienced clinical operational manager to assist the General Manager and Divisional Nurse Manager in the management of the financial, clinical; and academic performance of the Heart Division and to provide day to day operational management responsibility for the effective running of service within the area.
To assist the Divisional General Manager in the management of the administrative services of the Heart Division and Critical Care Services (which includes theatres and the catheter laboratories) at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
To understand the key clinical pathways utilised by the service and to work to ensure that access to these pathways is facilitated in the most effective manner. To work with the clinical staff of the Heart Division and Critical Care Services at the Royal Brompton Hospital in order to ensure that sufficient outpatient and diagnostic capacity is made available to meet the requirements of these pathways.
The Clinical Service Manager will be specifically responsible for the waiting list administration function, the medical secretaries and the junior doctors. . This role will be particularly instrumental in ensuring that the division meets its obligations with respect to achieving the 18 week wait from referral to treatment. The role will have direct responsibility for the budgets in excess of 16.9 million and staff (249 wte's) in these areas.
To play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as a member of the Heart Division management team and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups. Some elements of the role demand the Clinical Services Manager to work autonomously, including certain areas of responsibility, deputising for the Divisional General Manager and when on-call as Duty Manager covering both sites.
