Among its many excellent services are an outstanding trauma and orthopaedics unit, a pioneering emergency assessment unit, a fully accredited gynae-oncology unit, level 2 neonatal care, and nationally recognised expertise in radiotherapy, diabetes and ENT. This hospital's facilities include the Garrett Anderson Centre, opened in 2008, which provides excellent facilities for A & E, critical care and day surgery. The hospital also has particular strengths in research and education, with strong links to the Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia.

Are you passionate about midwifery and want to make a difference?
We are looking for an experienced midwife to join our team at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. As a senior midwife coordinator for the consultant led delivery suite you will be an excellent clinical leader who is committed to high quality intrapartum care as being essential in providing a foundation to ensure the ongoing health and well-being of the mother and newborn.
We are looking for someone with a calm manner who can lead and support midwives in this sometimes very stressful environment. You will have excellent communication skills and it is important that you are approachable and considered credible by the other members of the team.

The Ipswich Hospital Maternity Service is committed to women centred care and offers a choice of lead professional and place of birth to our local women.
You will be joining a highly motivated and inspirational team who are committed to delivering excellent maternity care for women and their families in East Suffolk.
We have 3800 births per annum with facilities for both alongside and standalone Birth Centre located in the small market town of Eye.
The whole multidisciplinary team work together promoting normality which is reflected in the high normal birth rate and low levels of caesarean section.
We have a number of good things going on at the moment:
* Significant investment in the midwifery service, enabling us to advertise a variety of posts.
* Good retention levels of midwives: no agency staff employed and we manage our own bank
* 15 Supervisors of midwives supporting safe practice
* Home birth rate around 4% with over 65% of births conducted by midwives
* Births in our MLBUs last year accounted for 20% of our activity
* Low caesarean rates, currently 22%
