This is an exciting opportunity for experienced or newly qualified Registered Nurses to join our amazing team with vacancies due to promotion.

The Oncology Ward is a 22 patient ward with a day case ward attached treating up to 30 patients per day .We treat patients at all stages of their illness and treatment, from those undergoing curative treatment such as chemotherapy, brachytherapy, radiotherapy and cyber-knife treatments to those making decision about end of life care.

We are looking for Nurses with the compassion, energy and vision to thrive within the many challenges and rewards of this fast paced environment. You will need to be adaptable and organized and enjoy playing a major role in teaching, appraising and supporting staff as well as assisting in implementing new initiatives across the Centre.

This post requires a Registered Nurse with an interest in oncology nursing, the willingness to undertake venepuncture, cannulation and chemotherapy administration training. In addition there are opportunities to progress and undertake a specialist oncology qualification.

The Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is a regional Centre that provides specialist cancer services to some two million people from across Hertfordshire, with over 4000 new patients treated each year.from a catchment area which includes Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, north-west London and parts of the Thames Valley.

You will be well supported in your role, with a mentor and preceptor. During an initial supernumerary period where you have the opportunity to work throughout the cancer centre, developing your knowledge of the patient journey and the many professional roles which make up our team.

The post holder will also receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of 3,483 and a maximum payment of 4,439 per annum pro rata.
